The Spirit of Christmas

December 8th, 2009 at 8:00 pm

The Spirit of Christmas takes you on a magical journey to a winter wonderland of fun and festive cheer. This New York style presentation features gorgeous costumes, wonderful Christmas songs, and the highest kicking chorus girls this side of the North Pole. The Spirit of Christmas was the headline Christmas attraction last year at the famous Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles, home of the Tony awards and the Grammys. This glittering Christmas spectacular will delight your entire family.

Press Release

The Brooks Center for the Performing Arts at Clemson University will present “The Spirit of Christmas,” a New York-style holiday spectacular complete with the season’s most memorable songs, magical reindeer, glamorous showgirls, and jolly elves.

“It’s sure to be the biggest holiday program we’ve hosted at the Brooks Center,” said Lillian Harder, the director of the performing arts center.

“The Spirit of Christmas” tap dances and sparkles its way right through the holiday season with fabulous Christmas scenery, wonderful costumes, amazing singers, and the most beautiful high-kicking chorus girls outside of The Big Apple. “The show is the perfect way to kick off the season,” she added. “Families - those with children and those without - will enjoy this wonderful holiday show.”

It features famous hits from Broadway’s greatest holiday shows and many of the most popular Christmas songs of all time, including “White Christmas,” “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” “The Little Drummer Boy,” “Silent Night,” and “O Come All Ye Faithful.” Other holiday favorites are “Joy to the World,” “The First Noel,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” “Frosty the Snowman,” “I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus,” and many others.

“But no Christmas spectacular is complete without the jolly ole elf,” said Harder. The night of the show, Santa Claus is scheduled to make a special appearance at the Brooks Center. “I’m sure he’ll be there to check his list and to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!”
