Christoph Eschenbach first met Lang Lang in 1999 at the Ravinia Festival (just weeks after his July 15, 1999 performance at the Brooks Center) where he was serving as the festival’s artistic director. Though his meeting with Lang Lang was intended to be no more than an audition, the impromptu moment turned into a recital leaving Eschenbach to remark in wonder, “I was fascinated by his talent and still am. He’s a complete musician, not only technically gifted…but above all immensely musical.” A close working relationship developed from this memorable meeting, and this season Lang Lang and Eschenbach tour with the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra. Listed in "Time" magazine’s “Most 100 Influential People,” Lang Lang will perform Prokofiev’s Concerto No. 3 for Piano.
