  • South Atlantic Conference Championships [02/02/08]
    • RALEIGH, NC - Clemson took six full squads to NC State University this year to compete in the SAC, recently reformatted to reflect a team based event. Clemson brought home a 1st place finish in Women's Sabre, a 3rd place finish in Men's Sabre and Women's Epee, a 4th place finish in Men's Epee, 5th place in Women's foil and Men's foil took (x). Craig Walker, Kaitlyn Pietras, Teresa Wallace, Daniel Thompson and EmmA Benward qualified for individuals in their respective weapons--Craig, Kaitlyn and EmmA finished 3rd and Daniel and Teresa finished in the top eight.


  • 28th Annual Collegiate Temple Open [11/3/07]
    • TEMPLE, PA - This year's Temple Open was the most successful for Clemson to date. Alaina Floyd made the finals in Women's Epee, finishing 8th out of 84. Michael Green also made the finals in Men's Foil, finishing 6th out of 91. This is Temple's largest showing to date, with about 600 competing fencers.

  • Southern Schools Duel Meet 2007 [10/13/07]
    • CLEMSON, SC - The Clemson Fencing Club had the honor this year of hosting the Southern Schools Duel Meet (an introduction tournament meant as an encouragement for club recruitment in schools across the southeast). The turnout for this tournament was unexpectedly high with six schools attending and all of them, save one, bringing at least one men's and one women's team. On Saturday, the Clemson men's epee and foil teams both took 4th in their events, followed up with the 5th place women's sabre and 2nd place men's sabre in the mixed sabre event. On Sunday, the women's foil team placed 2nd in their event and the women's epee team took first in theirs. Across all three weapons, the Clemson men placed 3rd and the Clemson women placed first in the tournament. This was a strong start to the 07-08 year--keep it up!

  • USACFC Championships 2007 [4/2/07]
    • BLOOMINGTON, IN - This year the team traveled to Indiana University to compete with our full 18-person team. After an exciting 2 days of fencing in the new tournament format, women’s Sabre team finished 5th overall, women’s Epee team finished 4th, and women’s Foil finished 12th. As a 3-Weapon team, Clemson’s women finished 5th. The men’s Sabre team placed 12th, men’s Epee finished 5th, and men’s Foil placed 19th overall. As a 3-Weapon team, Clemson’s men finished 10th. As a full 6-Weapon team, Clemson finished at a comfortable 7th place. Jason Murray, Daniel Thompson, and Kaitlyn Pietras made the cut to individual rounds for their respective weapons and in the end, Murray finished at 7th place in men’s epee, while Thompson took home the 4th place men’s epee medal.

  • NIWFA [3/3/07]
    • NORTHAMPTON, MA - The women’s competitive team traveled to Northampton, MA to compete in the NIWFA Championships on March 3rd. In the past, we attended once with only a foil squad, and so 2007 was the first time Clemson brought a full 9-person team to the tournament. Our Sabre team placed 8th, Epee team placed 8th, Foil team placed 12th, and overall the Clemson team finished 9th. Mary Magrane made the cut to the Sabre individual rounds and placed 7th overall.

  • South Atlantic Conference Championships [2/3/07]
    • VIRGINIA - Six squads of four members traveled to Virginia to take part in this year's SAC Championships. Some outstanding final results included a 3rd Place Women's Epee finish by Gloria Ham, a 3rd place Men's Epee finish by Daniel Thompson, and a 2nd place Men's Epee finish by Jason Murray. Men's Sabre had two medalists, with Craig Walker taking 3rd and Talon Smith finishing 7th. Women's Foil saw Tracy Kracker placing 3rd and Women's Sabre saw 3 Clemson medalists, with Mary Magrane taking Gold, Kaitlyn Pietras placing 6th, and Lindsay Kidson placing 8th. These combined gave Clemson 3 team medals, including 2nd place Women's Sabre Team, 2nd place Men's Epee Team, and 1st place Women's Epee team.


  • 27th Annual Temple Collegiate Open [10/30/06]
    • PHILADELPHIA, PA - This year's Temple University Collegiate Open was a momentous event. Particular accolades go to Jason Murray for his 7th place Men's Epee finish, and to Tracy Kracker for her final placement of 12th in Women's Foil.

  • 26th Annual Temple Collegiate Open [11/7/05]
    • PHILADELPHIA, PA - This year's annual Temple University Collegiate Open event has been both the largest and the strongest ever. With a field full of highly ranked and rated fencers, full of World Cup veterans and novices alike, Clemson's team manages to stand out once again this year with an even stronger showing this year than the last.
    • Leading the team with Clemson's second Varsity medal in over 20 years and highest overall placement was Mitchell Lane in Men's Epee. Kelly Karlinski in Women's Sabre took the second highest placing by entering into the Semi-Final round.

  • Tiger Open 2005 [10/3/05]
    • CLEMSON, SC - The Tiger Open, Clemson Fencing's annual fundraiser USFA tournament, has grown in size and was all-in-all a successful event.

  • USACFC Championships 2005 [4/3/05]
    • LANSING, MI - In a field that is greatly improving in both size and quality with every passing year, the performance of the team has once again risen beyond the previous year. Clemson, lead by the Women's Foil team's amazing third place finish, has once again proven to be one of the strongest Club teams in the country.
    • Leading the team's results is Katie Zenger, who recieved two medals - one from the Women's Foil third place finish and one from a fifth place finish in the individual event. Elizabeth Tucker, who also qualified for the individual event, and Tracy Kracker also recieved medals from the strong Women's Foil team result. In a near miss, Men's foil missed recieving a medal by a margin of four touches scored - the win/loss record was a tie. Ed Lidow and Michael Green from the Men's Foil team advanced to the individual competition from which Michael Green recieved a fourth place medal. Ashley Desforge advanced into the Women's Sabre individual competition, but was forced to withdraw due to an injury sustained at the start of the round.
    • The United States of America's Collegiate Fencing Club Championships are held in a different city each year. Every year, the competition has greatly improved. This year is no exception -- many more national points holders, A and B rated fencers fenced this year than in any of the previous Championships. With a total of 25 teams competing and 350 competitors, this tournament is quickly becoming one of the largest fencing tournaments in the nation.
    • The USACFC Championships will be held in Clemson in 2006.

  • South Carolina Divisional Qualifiers [3/6/05]
    • COLUMBIA, SC - This weekend, lead by a medal sweep in Men's Epee (Jason Murray, Michael Green, and Daniel Willard), Clemson took home 12 out of 18 possible medals at the South Carolina Divisional Qualifiers. The Men's team took home a total of 5 of 9 possible medals, while the women took home a total of 7 out of 9 possible medals.
    • This tournament is the main qualification path for the USFA Summer National Championships, which will be held in Sacremento, CA this year. Twenty two out of 24 Fencers attending qualified for Summer Nationals.

  • South Atlantic Conference Championships [2/13/05]
    • COLLEGE PARK, MD - This weekend, lead by a powerful Men's Foil squad (Michael Green, Ed Lidow, Colin McLauchlan), Clemson took the Men's Team Championship in the Southern Atlantic Conference Championships. The Men won their event by a very large margin, while the Women's team placed third in a very tight competition. Clemson came out on top as the points leader of the Conference and, if there were such an award to be given, would be considered the overall Conference Champions.

  • Clemson Duels [1/14/05]
    • CLEMSON, SC - This weekend, Fike Recreation Center was the location of an event not seen in Clemson for a generation: an intercollegiate fencing team meet. The atmosphere was relaxed but competative as teams from Clemson, University of Florida, University of North Carolina, North Carolina State, and Ole Miss faced off in the new gym area in Fike. One of the intended entrants, Maryland, had to withdraw at the last minute due to an unexpected issue with their administration.

  • 25th Annual Temple Collegiate Open [09/11/04]
    • PHILADELPHIA, PA— Junior Katie Zenger made an impressive showing this year by reaching the finals in the Women's Foil competition while two other Clemson fencers reached the semifinals in their respective events at the 25th Annual Temple Open held at McGonigle Hall this weekend. The open is a traditional yearly kickoff to the NCAA fencing season. It is Temple’s largest to date with over 20 schools represented from Florida to Brandeis and almost 400 competitors in total.
