Leisure Skills - Pilates
Course Description
This course is designed to give students an understanding of the history, philosophy, and fundamental movement concepts of Pilates.
Course Objectives
- Understand the history and emergence of Pilates.
- Develop an understanding of the Pilates philosophy of Contrology.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the core Pilates movements.
- Demonstrate understanding of the role Pilates plays in fitness programming.
Example Course Outline
- Weeks 1-2: Intro to Pilates history, movements concepts and fundamentals,
- Week 3-4: Mapping the movements
- Week 5-8: Level 1 workouts
- Week 9: Level 2 exercises and add ins
- Week 9-11: Mixed Level workouts
- Week 12: Observation workouts
- Week 13-14: Mixed level workouts and Final review.
