Intense and diverse, the theatre program at Clemson combines exciting aspects of performance, design, and playwriting in an academically challenging environment. While our majors do specialize, they are introduced to every aspect of a theatrical event: actors design; writers act; and directors write. Each student experiences a department intent on exposing students to a wide variety of performances and plays, from classical to contemporary, especially emphasizing both the production values and thematic/structural diversity of new works.
The Clemson Players, the very active student theatre organization, co-sponsors an annual season of theatre with productions designed and directed by faculty, guest artists, and students. Clemson theatre students have built successful careers in every aspect of the profession, from the technical to the performative.
The program offers diverse opportunities through internships and travel to events such as the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, the Spoleto Festival, the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Conference, and even the Fringe Festival in Scotland.
