Theatre Faculty
Prof. Kerrie Seymour
Prof. Kerrie Seymour teaches acting and Theatre Appreciation in the Department of Performing Arts. She has a Master of Fine Arts degree in Acting from Trinity Repertory Conservatory/Rhode Island College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism/Mass Communication from St. Bonaventure University.
As a professional actor, Prof. Seymour has appeared in numerous productions with Trinity Repertory Company, including as Lady Macbeth in “Macbeth,” Helena in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” Feste in “Twelfth Night,” Nurse in “Romeo and Juliet,” Vicki/Belinda in “Noises Off,” and both Mrs. Crachit and Belle/Lucy in two different mainstage productions of “A Christmas Carol.”
While in Rhode Island, Prof. Seymour founded her own theatre company, Three Strange Angels, which garnered acclaim for its inventive production of Oscar Wilde’s “An Ideal Husband.” Other theatre credits in Rhode Island include Margaret in “Much Ado About Nothing” for the Gamm Theatre and Lot in the world premiere production of “Pretty Speeches” at Perishable Theatre. After graduating from Trinity, she moved to Washington, D.C., where her acting credits included the world premiere of Craig Wright’s “Melissa Arctic” at the Folger Theatre, “The Night of the Iguana” at the Washington Shakespeare Company, and Tanya Barfield’s “The Quick” for Arena Stage’s downstairs reading series. While in D.C., Prof. Seymour also worked extensively for Charter Theatre, where she participated in numerous new play workshop readings, as well as world premiere productions of “Watching Left” and “Short Order Stories.”
Prof. Seymour was a long-time artistic associate at Virginia Shakespeare Company, where her roles included Titania in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” Lady Macduff in “Macbeth,” Guildenstern in “Hamlet,” Daphne in “A Civil War Christmas,” and as The Ghost of Christmas Past in “A Christmas Carol.” Other new play workshop experience includes Joe Calarco’s “Holding Pattern” for Signature Theatre and Peter Coy’s “O’Malley of Shananghah” at the Shenandoah International Playwright’s Retreat.
In Greenville, South Carolina, she has appeared as Rachel in “Reckless” at The Warehouse Theatre and as Lenny in “Crimes of the Heart” at CentreStage. Her directing credits include “The Importance of Being Earnest at the Virginia Shakespeare Company, “The Tempest” at the Keegan Theatre in Washington, and “Be Aggressive” at University of South Carolina-Upstate.
In addition to teaching at Clemson University Prof. Seymour and has taught at the University of South Carolina-Upstate in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
