Clemson University’s Department of Performing Arts will host the 2007 South Carolina Day of Percussion at the Brooks Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday, April 14.
The all-day event (10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) will feature workshops, clinics and product demonstrations by some of today’s best percussion practitioners. Scott Herring, percussion professor at the University of South Carolina, Everette Beale, retired timpanist of the Boston Pops Orchestra and Michael Spiro, an internationally recognized Latin percussionist are among this year’s presenters.
“Day of Percussion is open to both professional and amateur percussionists alike as well as drumming enthusiasts,” said Paul Buyer, Clemson’s director of percussion. “Percussionists of all skill levels are invited to participates.”
What’s more, performances by the Clemson University Steel Band, the Clemson University Percussion Ensemble and the Ridge View High School Percussion Ensemble are planned as part of the day’s events.
Day of Percussion is sponsored by the South Carolina Percussive Arts Society, Clemson University, Innovative Percussion, Pearl/Adams, Grover, Sabian, Latin Percussion, Evans and Vic Firth.
