Regina Willoughby (center), principal dancer for the Columbia City Ballet, recently presented a masterclass to dance students in the Department of Performing Arts. Willoughby, who began dancing at age 8 at Ballet Midland in West Texas, has studied at the Virginia School of the Arts, Westside in Los Angeles and the Joffrey Ballet School.
Her professional career includes solo roles at Ballet Austin and Columbia City Ballet,
where the Arabian in the Nutcracker, the Maiden in Dracula with a Bite, and the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella are her most notable roles.
Reviewers have praised her commanding stage presence, saying Willoughby is “one of the City Ballet’s up and coming stars,” and that she is “the company’s most enchanting female performers, both technically and dramatically.”
