Clemson percussionist David Agee has been selected to participate in the Disney All American College Band. A junior majoring in Production Studies in Performing Arts with a concentration in music, Agee is one of 20 students selected from national auditions to performing this summer at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif.
An accomplished performer on various percussion instruments, Agee plays snare drums, steel drums, drum set, orchestral percussions as well as marimba.
A student of Paul Buyer, Clemson’s director of percussion, Agee performs as a member of the Clemson University Marching Band (Tiger Band), the Clemson University Steel Band, the Clemson University Jazz Combo, the Clemson University Symphonic Band and the Clemson University Percussion Ensemble.
As a member of the Disney All American College Band, Agee will perform 25 times each week beginning May 29 through August 12. He will perform five different sets each day—one being a big band jazz concert and the other four concerts marching/show performances.
“This is a great opportunity for David,” said Rick Goodstein, chair of the department of performing arts and a former music director for the Walt Disney Company. “Not only will he have the chance to play with many of the best college musicians in the country but he will be able to polish his musical skills under the direction of top professionals.”
