Theatre Professor Has
Classic Adaptation Published

Performing Arts faculty member Alexander Harrington has had his stage adaptation of “The Brothers Karamazov Parts I and II” published in “Playing With Canons: Explosive New Works from Great Literature by America’s Indie Playwrights.”

An anthology, “Playing With Canons” is a collection of 18 theatre pieces that translate classic literature into fresh and relevant theatre works. Edited by Professor Alexander HarringtonMartin Denton, this 2006 publication includes re-workings of Greek myths, William Shakespeare, Anton Chekhov and others.

Denton, describes Harrington’s version of “The Brother Karamazov” as “a singular theatrical achievement, bringing the depth and complexity of a modern literary classic quite wholeheartedly and stunningly to the stage for audiences to experience in all its honest enormity.”

photograph of book coverCurrently, Harrington is mounting a production of William Shakespeare's "Henry V." His other directing credits include his New York debut of "Billy Budd," which was performed at the Westbeth Theatre Center and Circle in the Square, as well as "The Kiss", "The Philosopher," "Agamemmon," "Richard II" and "Henry IV," "Parts 1 and 2."
