The audio engineering concentration encourages students to focus on recording techniques, live sound reinforcement, and music technology. Coupled with the diverse and exciting core Production Studies curriculum, which asks students to learn about both music and its relationship to theatre, the audio engineering concentration prepares students for a wide variety of career choices in music technology. Using state-of-the-art equipment, a newly refurbished technology lab, and a ProTools© HD3 hard-disc recording studio, students receive extensive hands-on training.
Classes within the audio engineering curriculum include a major MIDI sequencing project as well as live sound reinforcement, recording technology, and advanced audio engineering classes. Students produce a compact disc in their senior capstone course as part of their digital portfolio, and advanced students have the opportunity to gain professional experience through part-time employment. The music emphasis concentration cohesively combines studies in performance, music theory, music history, music technology, and arts administration into a program that encourages students to tailor their studies to their specific career aspirations. With more than 20 performing groups from which to choose, students can participate in any number of musical ensembles, designed not only around their specific talents, but also those they want to develop.
Recent ensemble performances include the Washington National Cathedral, the Music Educators National Conference Regional Convention, and the South Carolina Music Educators National Conference Convention, among many others. Private lessons are available for every vocal student and instrumentalist, including harp, jazz guitar and piano, carillon, and all the wind instruments.
Many of our students intern at festivals such as the Spoleto Festival in Charleston, and have the opportunity to work with the vast array of traveling artists who perform in our Brooks Center for the Performing Arts. The experiential nature of the curriculum and diverse opportunities for growth allow graduates to move into successful careers and prestigious graduate programs. Learn More...

Intense and diverse, the theatre program at Clemson combines exciting aspects of performance, design, and playwriting in an academically challenging environment. While our majors do specialize, they are introduced to every aspect of a theatrical event: actors design; writers act; and directors write. Each student experiences a department intent on exposing them to a wide variety of performances and plays, from classical to contemporary, especially emphasizing both the production values and thematic/structural diversity of new works.
The Clemson Players, the very active student theatre organization, co-sponsors an annual season of theatre with productions designed and directed by faculty, guest artists, and students. Clemson theatre students
have built successful careers in every aspect of the profession, from the technical to the performative.
Diverse opportunities are available through internships and travel to events such as the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, the Spoleto Festival, the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Conference, and even the Fringe Festival in Scotland. Learn More...
