Professor Carrie Ann Collins
Professor Carrie Ann Collins is an assistant professor of theatre in acting in the Department of Performing Arts. She teaches Acting I & II, Voice, Movement for Actors, Voice for the Stage, and Theatre Appreciation. Professor Collins also serves as faculty advisor and director for the Clemson Players.
Collins is a professional actor who has performed onstage in numerous theatres in 
New York City, Los Angeles, Boston, amd most recently Greenville, SC. She also has appeared onscreen in television and film, and for six years was a resident member of the critically acclaimed and award-winning Los Angeles-based acting company, Theatre Unlimited, where she starred in world premieres of new plays and revivals of classic works. Her favorite acting credits include: Lysistrata, Edmund, The Seagull, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Glory of Living, Seven Keys to Baldpate and the world premiere of Keys to the Kingdom, a Los Angeles Weekly "Pick of the Week." Her favorite directing credits include: The Learned Ladies, Sexual Perversity in Chicago, Fuddy Meers, Crimes of the Heart, and Boy Gets Girl. Recently, she directed an original, ensemble-developed performance piece, Sincerely, for the Clemson Players, which was selected to perform in Chicago at the Around the Coyote Theatre Festival in Fall 2006. What's more, Prof. Collins enjoys choreographing dance and musicals, such as A Funny Thing Happended on the Way to the Furum, performed at Clemson in Spring 2005. She is also artistic director and producer of a new museum theatre company called Living Stage, which develops new theatre works with artists, galleries, museums, and historic properties.
Collins has a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre-Acting from Boston University , where she also taught Acting as a teaching fellow for two years. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from New York University Tisch School of the Arts, as well as a second major in Politics and a minor in Women's Studies. Prof. Collins studied acting professionally at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York City. She is a member of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE), Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF), and the International Museum Theatre Alliance (IMTAL).
