Theatre Faculty

Professor David Hartmann

Professor David Hartmann is a professor of theatre in the Department of Performing Arts. He teaches Lighting Design, Scenery Design, Scene Painting, Stagecraft, Theatre Appreciation and Music Laboratory. In addition to designing, Hartmann serves as the technical director for the Clemson Players. Other professional credits include work at various theme parks in Chicago and California, dinner theatres throughout the Midwest, and the Utah Shakespearean Festival. Prof. Hartmann has worked on more than 125 productions and has conducted workshops and presentations at regional theatre conferences in the Southeast and Midwest.

Prof. Hartmann received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theatre design from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and a Master of Fine Arts in Design from the University of Minnesota. A Clemson faculty member since 1990, he has also taught at the University of Minnesota and Missouri Western State College.
