Stage Movement

In Stage Movement class, students study and practice the psychological and physical sources of movement in the human body, with creative exercises to free them from habitual and self-conscious movements. Ensemble-building exercises, simple acrobatics, and alignment exercises are used to help students attain intellectual and physical control of their body and apply those skills to the development of a character. Physical conditioning, Yoga, Feldenkrais, Alexander, Chaikin, Bogart and Grotowski movement fundamentals are utilized to obtain a flexible, strong, expressive and coordinated body. Mask work, monologues, scenes and improvisations culminate in an end of semester presentation of original, movement-based theatre.
