Dr. Justin W. Durham serves as the Director of Choral Activities at Clemson University where he conducts the Clemson University Singers and Womenís Glee Club as well as teaches courses in music history, conducting, and choral methods. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in choral conducting from Louisiana State University, studying with Kenneth Fulton. Dr. Durham also holds Bachelor and Master of Music Education degrees from Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky. For seven years, he taught middle- and high-school choirs, A.P. Music Theory, and Music Appreciation in Northern Kentucky.
Dr. Durham is an active clinician, adjudicator, and guest conductor in South Carolina, Kentucky, Illinois, Louisiana, Texas, and Tennessee. Choirs under his direction have been selected to perform at state conventions and have toured throughout the United States, Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Italy. In addition to being an early music editor, he has had articles selected for publication in Teaching Music and Music Educators Journal. Dr. Durham is an active member of the National Association for Music Education, the American Choral Directors Association, the College Music Society, and the National Collegiate Choral Organization.
In 2014, he was awarded the Clemson University College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities Deanís Award for Excellence in Teaching.
