Fourteen senior performing arts majors graduated recently from Clemson University and a number of them have accepted full-time positions or internships across the country, while others are headed to graduate schools as far away as San Diego, Calif, or as close as Rock Hill, S.C.
Among the seniors headed to graduate school are music concentrators Mike Geib,
Andrew Flandry, and Deborah Threadgill. In the fall, Geib will attend Florida State University to study bass performance, Flandry will begin his medical studies at the Medical University of South Carolina, and Threadgill will study music education at Winthrop University.
Mike East, a theatre concentration student, is moving out west to pursue a graduate degree in theatre technology at the San Diego State University. Other graduating theatre students have accepted positions at various production and theatre companies. Still others will be busy this summer working at the Spoleto Festival USA in Charleston, S.C.
Jeff Human and Claire Plavich—both theatre concentrators—will begin their duties at Bard College in Upstate New York this fall, while John Breitmeier will remain in Tiger Town for one more year and will serve as the production intern at the Brook Center. Chris Bellinger will intern for nine months with the Orlando Shakespeare Festival, and Zach Broyles has accepted the position of technical director at Shannon Forest Presbyterian Church in Greenville, S.C.
“We are all proud of these students and impressed with their academic and professional accomplishments,” said Rick Goodstein, chair of the Department of Performing Arts. “They will be sorely missed and we look forward to their continued success.”
