Volunteers
 
We appreciate your interest in being a volunteer for the South Carolina FIRST LEGO League Championship Tournament on February 21, 2009. Without you, this tournament simply cannot happen. We expect a crowd of nearly 5000 kids, parents, volunteers, and spectators. This event is 100% volunteer run and we NEED YOU! If you have volunteered with us before, you are welcome to do your "old" job or sign up for something totally new.
If you have never volunteered before, sign up for what you are most comfortable with. The following describes the jobs in general terms:
    •    General Volunteer: We'll assign you where we most need you.
    •    Registration: Arrive at to Littlejohn Coliseum at 7:30am. Check teams in and give directions until approximately 9:45am.
    •    Crowd Direction: You will help us move people around the coliseum.
    •    Queue Station: You will be in charge of lining teams up according to our schedule for the day.
    •    Queue Runner: You follow the directions that come from the Queue station and help move teams to the events they need to go to on time.
    •    Project Judge: You will evaluate team projects according to a rubric and score them. You need to interact with the kids, ask questions, and evaluate. Specialized training session on Friday evening required for this job.
    •    Teamwork Judge: You will evaluate teams for their ability to work together according to a rubric and score them. You need to interact with the kids, ask questions, and evaluate. Specialized training session on Friday evening required for this job.
    •    Technical Judge: You will evaluate the design and programming of the robots according to a rubric and score them. You need to interact with the kids, ask questions, and evaluate. Specialized training session on Friday evening required for this job.
    •    Referee: You will watch the robot matches and score them according to a score sheet. You will need to interact with the kids and be intimately familiar with the rules we send you ahead of time. Specialized training session on Friday evening required for this job.
    •    Table Resetter: You will work closely with the referees to reset the competition tables after each round. You will need to know placement of the playing field components. Specialized training on Friday evening required for this job.
    •    Set Up: You will help anytime from 10am to 9pm on Friday or 7am-9am Saturday to make sure everything is ready for the event. Ability to lift things and be on your feet a must.
    •    Tear Down: You will help from 4pm-done on Saturday to take everything down things. Ability to lift things an be on your feet a must.
    •    Logistics: Help coordinators the week before and through the event with paperwork, trouble shooting, and other preparations.
