The South Carolina Universities Research and Education Foundation (SCUREF) was incorporated in 1988 by the four major research institutions in South Carolina, namely: Clemson University, South Carolina State University, the Medical University of South Carolina, and the University of South Carolina. The primary goal of SCUREF is to enhance educational programs and research opportunities of the participating universities through collaboration. Another principal goal is to support the mission of the United States Department of Energy at the Savannah River Site (SRS). The SCUREF consortium involves over 5,000 faculty, 60,000 students, and a number of unique facilities located on the campuses of the participating universities. The diverse strengths of the institutions are resources available to enrich educational programs while promoting the formation of research teams to address more broadly based interdisciplinary research problems. |
