About The Thiel Foundation offers a fellowship for young people under 20 years of age to pursue innovative scientific and technical projects, learn entrepreneurship, and begin to build the technology companies of tomorrow. During their two-year tenure, each Fellow will receive $100,000 from the sponsor as well as mentorship from the their network of tech entrepreneurs and innovators. The project areas for this class of fellows include biotech, career development, economics and finance, education, energy, information technology, mobility, robotics, and space.

Objectives The purpose of this fellowship is to recognize and reward those under the age of twenty allowing them to pursue innovative scientific and technical projects, learn entrepreneurship, and begin to build the technology companies of tomorrow. Some of the fields that most interest the Foundation are: biotech, genomics, synthetic biology, robotics, information & communication technology, artificial intelligence, neurotech, nanotech, and medical devices.
Eligibility Candidates must be 19 years old or younger as of December 31st of the application year. Candidates from around the world are encouraged to apply. Foreign candidates are responsible for obtaining their own visa into the United States.
Funding During their two-year tenure, each Fellow will receive $100,000 as well as mentorship from the their network of tech entrepreneurs and innovators. The Thiel Foundation strongly encourages, though does not require, all Thiel Fellows to move to the Bay Area for the cohort collaboration, mentoring, networking, conferences, and other opportunities that arise on a regular basis.
