Welcome to the ePortfolio Website!
This website will provide ePortfolio examples (in the Gallery)
information on how to build your ePortfolio (How do I begin?) and other
resources pertaining to ePortfolios. This website is meant to be a
resource for students and faculty.
What is an ePortfolio?
An ePortfolio is a collection of a student's work in electronic format. You should include a welcome/instroduction to your ePortfolio. This is the first virtual impression that people will have of you so make it a great one! You may even want to include a video welcome where you explain the organization of your ePortfolio and direct the viewer through the site. Your ePortfolio may contain all or some of the following:
- Supporting files of various formats (text, pictures, video, etc.)
- Evaluations, reflections and recommendations
- Evidence of General Education competencies
- Writing samples (which might include several drafts to show development and improvement)
- Projects prepared for class or extracurricular activities
- Evidence of creativity and performance
- Evidence of extracurricular activities, including examples of leadership
Why would I want to create an ePortfolio?
Your ePortfolio is a place where you show what you know. You will collect evidence of what YOU believe best demonstrates your understanding of Clemson's General Education Competencies.
How do I begin?
This Web site is a great place for you to begin to learn about the ePortfolio. The links on the left side of the page will be helpful in getting you started, teach you (almost) everything you need to know about the general education competencies and show you some ePortfolio examples. So click around the site and tell us what you think! eportfolios@clemson.edu
Remember: To ensure that you have created an ePortfolio that is representative of your Clemson experiences you should begin your ePortfolio the first semester of your freshman year AND continue to work on your ePortfolio throughout your 4 years at Clemson. That way your ePortfolio will evolve over time demonstrating your learning over time.
We also encourage you to think of your ePortfolio as a place to learn about yourself. By engaging in reflection and self assessment you will have an opportunity for continual learning.
Who is required to develop an ePortfolio for general education?
All undergraduate students (including transfer students, students that have changed their major, every undergrad!).
