Below is a detailed list of items that need to be completed in order to be prepared for summer move-in on Sunday, June 25, 2017 for the Early Success Summer Program. Please read this list carefully and complete the items as soon as possible (if not already completed).
Meet your ESP Summer Staff — Check out the ESP staff that you will be working with this summer. We are all excited for your arrival!
Freshman Orientation — You should have already signed up for orientation on June 26 and 27, 2017. If this orientation session is full, please select the last session, pay and complete registration, and then email Amber at email@example.com so that she can have you moved to the correct session. Parents, remember you’ll need to make accommodations for June 26 and 27 as Clemson does involve parents in their orientation days. You can find a sample schedule on the orientation web page.
Course Registration — Students will register for summer classes on Sunday, June 25, 2017. Students will be taking COMM 2500 (3 credit hours) and STS 1010 (3 credit hours). These courses count towards most majors but not all. You will get your Summer II schedule at the time of move in. You will register for your fall classes during orientation.
Summer tuition and fees — Your ESP Fee and Summer Housing Fee will post to your student account prior to orientation. Because you are unable to register for your classes before June 25, 2017, your tuition will not show up on your bill until June 26, 2017 and you are not required to pay anything for the summer until June 26, 2017.What you see in iRoar prior to June 25, 2017 will only include ESP and Housing fees. You should plan to pay your summer tuition and fees on June 26, 2017 while you are here for Orientation. I recommend you check out the Student Financial Website for details regarding pay your summer bill.
Summer Financial Aid—Students who wish to apply for the Federal Pell Grant and/or Federal Direct Loan for the summer can submit a 2016-17 FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov. Please note this is a different year’s FAFSA than required for the 2017-18 academic year. Students must also submit a Summer School Enrollment Form. If you have questions about financial aid or loans for the summer, you should contact Student Financial Aid at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Parking- If you are bringing a car for summer session, you should plan to go to parking services to purchase a prorated pass from the 16-17 academic year. This pass is typically around $22.
Opening Banquet — Our Opening Banquet will be at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 25 in the Hendrix Student Center Ballrooms. Each student should plan to bring up to two guests. Parents are strongly encouraged to attend. If you plan on bringing more than 2 parents, please let us know so we can plan accordingly. At the banquet, students and parents will enjoy dinner together, meet ESP staff members and summer course instructors, and be provided with specific details regarding orientation, the summer program, and requirements and expectations for the academic year.
Summer Move In and Roommate Assignment — Students are required to check in on Sunday, June 25 between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. You must arrive at the lobby of CORE Campus D during this block of time to get your keys and check in with ESP and Housing staff. After you check in with us, you can move into the residence hall at any time that day. Your summer roommate assignment will be sent to your Clemson email address no later than June 9th.
Summer Housing — ESP Summer housing has been arranged in CORE Campus. The payment for your Summer Housing fee will show up on your Summer II bill. Roommate assignments are only for June 26th- August 4thand you will not be permitted to change roommates. ESP students are not permitted to loft beds during the summer session or rent a microwave or mini-fridge through Clemson Housing. There are microwaves in CORE Campus for student use. Please note that if you bring a TV, you will need a Roku Stick or Roku Box to access the cable. Move out is the afternoon of Friday, August 4th so please plan accordingly!
July 4th Holiday — The University will be closed on Tuesday, July 4th for the Holiday.
Summer Housing Policies and Procedures — Download 2017-2018 New Student Addendum and Contract. Please read these policies carefully and ensure you understand each policy as they apply to your Summer Housing. You will be required to sign a document at move in that states you have read and understand each policy and procedure and agree to abide by them. “I did not know,” will not be an accepted excuse. Students who violate the alcohol or drug policy during summer session II will be removed from housing and the Early Success Program resulting in their removal from Clemson University. You are responsible for your guests and what they bring into the residence hall. You are strongly encouraged not to have friends from home or incoming freshman visit during Summer II.
Meal Plan — You are required to select either the Any 20 Plan or Any 40 Plan for summer meals. Both of these plans come with PawPoints, which can be used at other on-campus dining options such as Subway, Einstein’s Bagels, Starbucks, etc. There is a dining hall located directed below the residence hall. Your meal plan options can be reviewed here and selected and paid for on your summer bill under Optional Fees. You should plan to purchase your summer meal plan prior to paying your tuition and fees when you arrive for orientation.
Tiger Stripe account — Your TigerStripe account can be accessed through the Tiger1 website. Students have an account on their University ID Card. This works like a pre-paid debit card for students at all locations on campus, and many off-campus locations. The minimum amount to open an account is $50. ESP students are encouraged to open an account and deposit a minimum of $50 for the Summer II session. Further information can be found on the Tiger1 website.
Summer Absences — Please remember that you are required to participate in all activities and events planned for the summer. You will receive a detailed schedule when you move in. You are not permitted to miss any classes (Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.). If you have a major life event (that is planned in advance) that could conflict with program activities, we ask that you request permission to miss that event prior to move in. Permission will be granted on a case by case basis.
