Home to the European Union and NATO, Brussels is widely known as one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Europe. The academic program involves study of the economic and political integration of post-World War II Europe, with emphasis on the contemporary role of the European Union; and the history of Belgium, with emphasis on its role in the Northern Renaissance and reputation as Europe's "battleground." The program features numerous day trips (Bruges, Ghent, Leuven, Ypres) and visits to museums and historic sites. No pre-requisites. Priority given to Calhoun Honors College students and others with GPR of 3.2 or higher.

Introduction to Human Communications and Listening: Theory, Practice and Creative Expression

Overview of theoretical approaches to the study of communication, including theory and practice of interpersonal, small group, intercultural and public communication. This program will also introduce students to perspectives on and skills related to active, responsive listening. Students will connect deeply with the culture and cityscape of Brussels and will learn to listen in a new, beautiful, nuanced place. COMM 150 course meets the General Education requirement for Communication and may substitute for COMM 201 for minors who study abroad.

This program will provide an intensive German experience in the natural language and cultural setting. As part of the program, students will gain practical experience in German and will have opportunities for regular conversations with native German speakers and tour leaders. Berlin and the Holocaust -- History, Remembrance, and Representation

Berlin is currently one of the most exciting, creative, and innovative cities in the world. But Berlin is also known as the "capital city of the Holocaust." Through readings, visits to many authentic sites pertinent to the Nazi period, discussions with eyewitnesses of the Nazi era and other Berliners, our program will focus on the darker period of Berlin's history and on the pluralistic ways in which contemporary Berlin's remembrance culture recalls this history. Includes a weekend trip to Poland - both to Cracow (the Oscan Schindler factory and museum) and to the Auschwitz concentration camp.

Follow in the footsteps of Paul of Tarsus for three weeks as we travel from Antioch to Athens, exploring the cities in which Christianity first grew. We'll visit archaeological sites, shrines and museums as we encounter the material world in which some ancient pagans first came to switch their allegiance to a crucified Jewish rabbi. Along the way, we'll also visit some of the "7 churches" of Revelation.

The Viterbo program is ideal for students interested in studying Italian, History, Art, Journalism, or Environmental Studies in a bustling university town in central Italy. Study Mediterranean Land Resource Management and explore various concepts and geographic methods to represent the spatial distribution of soil and environmental properties across Mediterranean landscapes. This seven-week residential program is based in Barcelona, Spain, one of the most modern, vibrant and beautiful cities in the world and the capital of the autonomous region of Cataluna, Spain. The program is designed for students from all majors who have a desire to learn more about international management issues in one of Europe's most important business centers, as well as having an interest in Spanish culture, language, gastronomy and history. No pre-requisites required. MGT 430 will satify any one of the following areas for management majors: general management emphasis, human resources emphasis, international management emphasis, or 3 hrs of the support requirement (assuming a minor is not being pursued). IS 210 will meet the General Education Cross Cultural Awareness requirement. Program capacity is very limited; early application is encouraged.
