Byron Wiley

The former Director of Social Equity for Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education, Mr. Wiley joined Clemson University in June 1999. He has primary responsibility for all aspects of the administration and operation of the Office of Access and Equity and reports to the Board of Trustees through the Board's Executive Secretary. He holds a Baccalaureate Degree from Creighton University, Master's Degrees from Drake University and the University of Southern California, and is an alum of Harvard University's Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program. Eugenia Tichenor

Ms. Tichenor is the University's Sexual Harassment Counselor and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Coordinator. She administers the sexual harassment program for all faculty, staff and students, including investigation and resolution of complaints of illegal discrimination.

Ms. Tichenor has also been designated racial harassment officer for students who feel they are the victims of racial harassment. In addition, she investigates claims of discrimination by faculty and staff. Individuals who believe that they have been subjected to illegal discrimination are encouraged to contact Ms. Tichenor at 656-0899 for confidential advice and assistance in resolving the problem.

As ADA Coordinator, she is responsible for accessing, interpreting, and implementing federal regulations, as well as coordinating the University's compliance efforts. Her duties include evaluation of accommodation needs and identification of solutions to accessibility problems. In addition, she develops workshops and provides training on sexual harassment and ADA issues.

Jerry Knighton

Mr. Knighton is the designated affirmative action officer for the University. He monitors the University's recruitment and retention program for minorities and women and is responsible for ensuring that all Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity policies and guidelines are followed and fulfilled.

He assists the Graduate School in their efforts to recruit minority graduate students and coordinates graduate fellowship programs for new and continuing minority graduate students.

Brenda Manley

Ms. Manley manages all fiscal, personnel, payroll, procurement, and other accounting activities; processes and manages multi-independent budgets; assists the Director and other professional staff members in meeting department objectives; and assists in developing and implementing meetings, workshops, projects and conferences.

Freda Webb
