Advertising Plan & Search Committee Designation

The Advertising Plan and Search Committee Designation form is sent by the hiring unit to the Office of Access & Equity prior to the recruitment of any position that is:

  • unclassified
  • temporary or permanent
  • full-time or part-time
The purpose of this form is to notify the Office of Access & Equity of the department's recruitment plans and designate members of the search committee. It provides basic information about the position and identifies advertising strategies. Incomplete forms (those missing position numbers, requisition numbers, and job codes) will not be processed. The department is responsible for contacting the Office of Human Resources (HR) to obtain a requision number for the purpose of posting the position to the HR job list.

After the form has been signed by the committee chairperson, hiring department administrator and budget center designee, it should be sent to the Office of Access & Equity for review. The form should be completed after receiving the approved Unclassified Position Vacancy Announcement form which will provide information on any targeted underepresented group(s) for advertising. Additionally, information on the affirmative action goals of the job group is available through the Office of Access and Equity, the Office of Human Resources or by clicking on Determine Underutilization (PDF) here. With this information, we can assist the department in its recruitment efforts and monitor affirmative action activities.

A copy of the proposed advertisement must be attached and submitted with the form. In addition to the job description, all ads should include the minimum qualifications, a closing date, and the following required Clemson University AA/EEO statement:

In addition, ads may also include the following types of statements:

"Clemson University is building a culturally diverse faculty committed to working in a multicultural environment and encourages applications from minorities and women."

"Clemson University is interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching, and /or service."

Upon approval of all submissions, the Office of Access & Equity will sign the form and may make suggestions regarding any needed changes to the proposed advertisement. The signed original of the Advertising Plan and Search Committee Designation form and a copy of the proposed advertisement will be returned to the recruiting department where it is to be maintained as part of the recruitment file.
