What an honor it is to serve as the 2015-2016 Chair for the Clemson University Board of Visitors! As 1993 graduates of the College of Business and Behavioral Science, my husband, Drew, and I are proud to have served Clemson University in a variety of volunteer leadership roles.
I’m often asked, “Tell me about the Board of Visitors. What is your role?” I’m proud to say that this group of approximately 60 members, nominated by the Board of Trustees, is one busy group of advocates for Clemson University! We promote goodwill for Clemson University through our work. Traditionally, our members have served as legislative advocates, planning events and contacting legislators and their staff about current efforts and future needs of the University. Additionally, we promote goodwill by assisting with student recruitment via various prospective and student events across SC and neighboring states. The Board of Visitors has the opportunity to recognize extraordinary staff service on an annual basis through our Marvin G. Carmichael Service Award. Most importantly, we support our students through a many student engagement opportunities throughout the year.
Clemson has a bright future with new leadership, and Board of Visitors members are working diligently to implement new programs in 2016 to support our new strategies. We are proud to be part of the Clemson Family and the amazing work that supports our students, industry, and our state!
