Office of the President

Focused on the Future

The past decade has seen Clemson University’s transformation from a respected state institution to one of the nation’s top-ranked public universities, largely because of decisions made 10 years ago to focus on academic quality, student support and engagement, information technology and capital infrastructure, eight emphasis areas and research-driven economic development. According to President Jim Barker, “Clemson is a better university today because we had a plan that focused on what we do well – which is not everything – and squeezed every available resource to enhance quality and deliver results for students and for the state.”

Now, nearly 10 years after adopting a vision to be one of the nation’s top-20 public universities and a set of 10-year goals, Clemson is again engaged in a University wide strategic planning process to establish priorities and strategies for the next decade.
