Campus Safety Report
A Letter from President Barker

Dear Clemson:

Clemson University has adopted a set of 10-year goals aimed at helping us achieve our vision of being one of the nation’s top-20 public universities. One of those goals is “Maintain an environment that is healthy, safe and attractive.” By establishing that goal, we confirm that Clemson values the safety of its students, faculty, staff and guests.

To ensure safety, we have a full-time police force on duty 24 hours a day; emergency telephones strategically located around campus; and an ongoing, vigorous safety program that incorporates crime prevention as well as prosecution.

However, we can’t do it without your help. Awareness and education are critical components of any safety program. That is why we produce this publication, which provides a comprehensive overview of all programs and policies, tells you who to call and what to do if you are a victim of a crime, and offers tips to increase your safety awareness. We encourage you to spend some time reviewing the contents and to keep this as a reference tool throughout your stay at Clemson.

More information is available on several Web sites, which you’ll find listed on this site.

Remember, although Clemson University is safe, no campus in America is crime-free. Thank you for giving this publication your careful attention.

Sincerely,

James F. Barker, FAIA
President
