Transfer Students Admissions Procedures

When applying to Clemson, transfer applicants should:

• Submit a completed online application.
• Request final official transcripts to be sent from each college previously attended.  You must submit official transcripts even if you do not expect to receive credit for the work or if you withdrew prior to receiving final grades.  If you have been provisionally accepted, you must also arrange for Clemson to receive updated transcripts for any additional work you complete.

*All official documents (except those for your current term) must be postmarked by Dec. 15. Note: Transfer students who wish to apply for Maymester, Summer Session I or Summer Session II should submit their application at least two weeks before classes begin.

Transfer Students Admissions Requirements

Transfer admission is becoming increasingly more competitive. To improve your chance for admission you should

• Complete a year of college study- after high school graduation- earning 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of transferable credit.  Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate and Dual Enrollment credit may not be used to count toward the 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) requirement.
• Earn a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale (3.0 preferred). Some majors such as architecture, nursing, health science, communication studies, construction science and management, performing arts, early childhood education, elementary education, secondary education (social sciences), special education and professional golf management have more selective admission standards. Students interested in these majors are encouraged to apply early and contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for current admission requirements.
• Complete freshmen-level courses in English, science and mathematics for your intended major at Clemson.
• Present statements of honorable dismissal and of eligibility to return to the institution last attended, unless so stated on the transcript.

Because of applicant pressure and/or space limitation, some majors such as architecture, landscape architecture, construction science and management, visual arts, performing arts, early childhood education, elementary education, secondary education (social sciences), special education, health science, nursing, professional golf management and communication studies have more selective standards.  In general, transfer applicants for these competitive majors should have completed all freshman-level courses for their intended major with a minimum grade-point average of approximately 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). Students interested in these majors are encouraged to apply early and contact the Office of Admissions for current application requirements. 

Transfer applications are reviewed on a rolling basis as they become complete. Admission is closed when all classroom space has been committed.
