Steven L. Belcher
(BS)

My education (Natural Resources & Environment Concentration) has served me well in performing my job duties. I thank the professors that insisted that we use and practice our technical writing skills with weekly lab reports and a senior year course that emphasized we should present ourselves professionally... it has made and will continue to make a great difference in my career.

With the Biosystems Engineering (Natural Resources emphasis) degree I earned from Clemson University in May of 1998, I obtained a job as an Assistant Environmental Engineer at Dames & Moore in Bethesda, MD.

I am a Ph. D. research student in the Laboratory of Environmental Control Engineering in the Faculty of Horticulture at Chiba University, Japan.

john.jpg John R. Bradford, III (BS)

My name is John R. Bradford, III and I graduated from Clemson University in 1996 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Biosystems Engineering with an emphasis in Natural Resources Engineering. Exxon Company, U.S.A. (EUSA) recruited me from the program as an Associate Environmental Engineer within the Marketing Department to work at our company headquarters located in Houston, Texas.

When I graduated from the Biosystems Engineering program (Natural Resources emphasis), I was seeking employment as an environmental engineer. I soon received an opportunity to do environmental remediation work for Omega Environmental Services in Texas. This was exactly the kind of job I wanted and began work in San Antonio.

Automation Engineer with KINETICS-bio/Pharmaceutical Division , Durham, NC
BioKINETICS is a design/build engineering firm focusing on high-purity process systems. A system to provide pure water is an example.

In July of 1999, I began working for STS Consultants, Ltd. in Vernon Hills, Illinois, located just outside Chicago. STS is a consulting firm that offers environmental science, geotechnical, structural, and civil engineering services. I work in the engineering department of STS, and split my time between water resources projects and civil engineering projects.

John Kirby (BS)

I enrolled in the Natural Resources concentration intending to work in the environmental engineering field. However, I am currently employed by Carolina Power and Light Company (CP&L) as an associate engineer performing electrical engineering duties and project management in the distribution engineering and operations section. I am proof that the Biosystems Engineering degree at Clemson University can take you any place that you want to go within its field of study and even to areas outside of the natural resources and environment arena.

My undergraduate Biosystems Engineering (Natural Resources emphasis) degree offered me a wide range of disciplines related to preserving our environment. One discipline that really caught my attention was hydrology and sedimentology.
Joy Sherman (BS)
I graduated in December of 1996 from Clemson University with a Biosystems Engineering degree, and with a Natural Resources Emphasis. With this degree, I accepted a job working for the State of South Carolina in the Department of Health & Environmental Control (DHEC).

After graduating from Clemson University in May 1998, with a degree in Biosystems Engineering (Natural Resources Concentration), I immediately accepted employment with McGill-Schnabel as a Staff Engineer.

GiesA.jpg Kathryn Gies (BS)

While studying Biosystems Engineering (Natural Resources Concentration) at Clemson University, I became interested in water quality and natural water treatment systems. Natural treatment systems utilize the biological, physical, and chemical processes that occur in the environment for treatment of wastewater.

I am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Hydrogeology at Stanford University. I work with Dr. Steve Gorelick in the Department of Geological and Environmental Sciences in the Hydrogeology Research Group. Our group does a variety of applications, but all of them involve computer modeling at some level.
