Biosystems Engineering
Program Outcomes
Program outcomes specify the intended knowledge, abilities, competencies,
and awareness acquired by our graduates from the overall education received
in the Biosystems Engineering program. These are comprised of eleven outcomes
common to all engineering disciplines and plus additional outcomes specific
to the concentration areas of Biosystems Engineering.
The eleven outcomes are specified by the Accreditation Board for Engineering
and Technology (ABET) as part of Criteria 2000 used to determine
accreditation of engineering programs nationwide.

GRADUATES will have:
- the ability to apply knowledge
of mathematics, science, and engineering
- the ability to design and conduct experiments, and analyze and interpret data
- the ability to design a system, component or process to meet desired needs
- the ability to function on multi-disciplinary teams
- the ability to identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems
- the understanding of professional and ethical responsibility
- the ability to communicate effectively
- the broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global and societal context
- a recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in, life-long learning
- a knowledge of contemporary issues
- the ability to use techniques, skills and modern engineering tools used in engineering practice
