2009 Contest Details
  • Eligibility for competition in ATA-sponsored contests was extended to all collegiate agricultural education organizations in 1994. Any undergraduate student organization in agricultural education may participate regardless of their name.
  • Contests will be held at the National Conclave of Alpha Tau Alpha in Indianapolis, Indiana which is slated for October 21 - 23, 2009.
  • This year's conclave will be hosted by the University of Illinois — Visit their Web site for more details at: http://aged.illinois.edu/ata.php     
  • Cornell University will be hosting the Essay Contest.

2009 Program of Excellence Award

Program of Excellence Award materials [disk file of the presentation and four (4) copies of the summary of Program of Excellence Award materials [disk file of the presentation and four (4) copies of the summary of activities] will be accepted at the opening session during the first day of the National Alpha Tau Alpha Conclave in Indianapolis. A LCD projector and laptop with PowerPoint 2007 (CD or Jump Drive only) will be available for use in the Program of Excellence Award presentations. To save on time, all presentations must be on disk or jump drive; no personal computers will be allowed.

2009 Parliamentary Procedure Contest

This contest is being offered for the fourth time and will follow the "old rules" in which the floor is made of four opposing teams.  Each team shall be composed of five individuals; president, vice-president, secretary and two delegates.

2009 Nolan Awards
  • The A.W. Nolan Memorial Leadership Award was established in the memory of Dr. Aretas W. Nolan, former professor and Head of Agricultural Education at the University of Illinois. It was Dr. Nolan and his students who in 1921 conceptualized and started Alpha Tau Alpha (ATA), the National Professional Honorary Agricultural Education Fraternity. The purposes of the Nolan leadership Award are to:
    • Recognize collegiate agricultural education organizations for their pursuit of national leadership and professional development opportunities for their members;
    • Ensure the professionalism and success of the National Collegiate Agricultural Education Conference and ATA Conclave, and
    • Improve communications between collegiate agricultural education organizations.

In order to award certificates, please email all relevant National Publications information to lwestrom@umn.edu by October 7th 2009. In addition, please supply me with a hard copy of all other relevant information by closing of the 2009 National ATA Business Meeting.
