Graduate Student Support
This
office recognizes the importance of graduate education and the role it
plays in the conduct of research. Graduate
students are an excellent investment of research dollars. They
facilitate the efforts of research faculty while furthering their own
professional and academic development.
Faculty
may request support for graduate students as they meet with a representative
of this office, associate deans and department chairs to discuss their
proposed research projects. Requests
for graduate students will be coordinated with the respective deans
Available
or anticipated grant funding for graduate students makes it possible for
this office to leverage available funds and make graduate students available
to more research faculty.
Research
projects or programs which have funds available or can demonstrate the
potential to generate grant funds within the first year of the project
or program will get priority for appropriated funds for graduate students.
This
office expects faculty to make graduate student support the first priority
for the use of grant funds as they are received.
Funding
for graduate students reverts to this office as students complete their
course of study or leave the university.
