Leading universities do more than just educate students. In today’s university setting, outreach and service are intertwined into students’ daily lives; future-shaping research is performed in conjunction with the learning environment; and economic development is stimulated through intellectual property, invention and enterprise.
With big ideas come big benefits: new opportunities, job creation, startup companies, new applications for outdated industries, economic prosperity, a socioeconomic shift up, wealth creation, success, and, of course, a great, hands-on educational and research environment for the nation’s best students and faculty!
THE NEED
Clemson University needs to raise private funding to take these big ideas from inspiration to innovation, entrepreneurship and prosperity.
-
The expansion of the Madren Continuing Education and Conference Center
-
Veterinary/Research Clinics
-
Call Me Doctor program
-
Empowered Education Enterprise
THE VALUE
Clemson’s Center for Optical Materials Science and Engineering Technologies (COMSET) spun off two new companies in 2006, leading to job creation in South Carolina, and has garnered more than $20 million in sponsored research since 2000. COMSET’s faculty hold seven patents and have applied for 20 more.
Since the Call Me MISTER® program’s inception in 2000, 20 MISTERS have graduated and are now teachers in the classroom.
CU-ICAR's unique partnership between the state and private business aims to put South Carolina at the hub of the nation’s automotive and motorsports industries.
