They support, inspire, teach, inform, enrich and engage individuals and communities in collab­orative activities that create positive change. Whether establishing a home for teen mothers and their children, providing themed educational retreats for seniors or creating camps for children with cancer or diabetes, Clemson's programs help to shape the future for South Carolinians.

Imagine spending your 17th birthday in lockup at a juvenile correctional facility — lonely, disconnected and confused. What’s worse is knowing it’s your fault — the result of a lifestyle of bad choices. Skipping school, drug dealing and hanging out on the streets had been the only life you’d known.

“At the Youth Development Center, they’ve taught me things that I never thought about on the streets. I’m ready to put what I’ve learned into action. When I get out, I’m not smoking, drinking or selling drugs,” says Justin. “When I get out, I’m going to be a leader, not a follower.”

  • Researchers from Clemson’s Public Service Activities have empowered farmers across the state with education, tips and solutions to crop disease and problems, ultimately helping save family farms, educate industry and resolve food and water supply issues.
  • The Arthur M. Spiro Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership promotes entrepreneurial activity and economic development.
  • Clemson’s National Dropout Prevention Center strives to help at-risk youth successfully graduate from high school

  • The Emeritus College offers retired professors an opportunity to continue practicing and sharing their expertise

Clemson University needs to raise private funding to ensure that these life-changing programs and centers can continue to impact students, faculty and the citizens of South Carolina.
