Poised for Impact: Class of 2010

A record number of Clemson University graduates crossed the stage last Friday at Littlejohn Coliseum to receive their degrees. Nearly 2,638 Clemson students became alumni in front of packed audiences at morning and afternoon ceremonies. Of those graduates, 2,157 received bachelor's degrees, 425 earned master's degrees and 56 received Ph.D.s. This spring's graduating class includes some amazing Clemson undergraduate and graduate students. These new Clemson Tigers are ready to make their mark. read more >

Engineering Students Awarded for Classroom Innovation

A team of Clemson engineering students has won a national award for developing a device that allows third-graders to "feel" their interaction with a computer. The project adds a sense of touch to the computer interface, allowing children to actually feel force and vibration as they compare shapes, sizes and weights of objects shown on the computer screen. read more >

Professor Earns Top Award for Aerospace Research

Scott Shappell, an industrial engineering professor, has received the 2010 Henry L. Taylor Founder's Award for outstanding contributions in the field of aerospace human factors. His work to identify fatigue and other human factors that lead to airplane accidents has earned him the top award from the Aerospace Human Factors Association. read more >

John Cummings Receives Alumni Master Teacher Award

Clemson University students have chosen John Cummings, senior lecturer in biological sciences, as the Alumni Master Teacher for 2010. The Alumni Master Teacher Award for outstanding undergraduate classroom instruction is presented to a faculty member nominated by the student body and selected by the Student Alumni Council. read more >

Two faculty members received the Alumni Award for Outstanding Achievements in Research: Naren R. Vyavahare, Hunter Endowed Chair and professor of bioengineering, and Warren Adams, professor of mathematical sciences. read more >

Teacher Cadet to Teacher of the Year

Clemson graduate Kelly Nalley discovered her passion for teaching as a teacher cadet in high school. She is now a Spanish teacher at Fork Shoals School in Greenville. Kelly was just named South Carolina's Teacher of the Year for 2010-2011 and will represent more than 50,000 South Carolina teachers in the National Teacher of the Year Program. read more >

Class of 2010 Senior Class Project

The Class of 2010 has chosen to continue the tradition of honoring the past while looking toward the future by supporting the Scroll of Honor Memorial as its Senior Class Project. After setting a goal of $25,000, class leaders created a bucket list of events and set up a drawing for two tickets to the 2010 Homecoming game. Special congratulations to Kelly Gerrity for winning the tickets. To date $6,607 has been raised. read more >

The Aiken County Clemson Club named Rep. Jim Stewart as its annual Super Tiger of the Year during its meeting Tuesday night at the USC Aiken Convocation Center, with both Clemson head football coach Dabo Swinney and head men's basketball coach Brad Brownell watching. read more >

On Thursday, April 22nd, members of the Clemson family gathered at the Scroll of Honor memorial for the dedication ceremony. The tiger statues that guard the entrance to the Memorial Plaza were also unveiled. watch the full ceremony >

Native American Exhibit and Other Events at Geology Museum

The Bob Campbell Geology Museum, located in the South Carolina Botanical Garden at Clemson University, will celebrate International Museum Day on Saturday, May 15, with a free open house and family activities. The museum will unveil a new exhibit that highlights Native American artifacts and focuses on the use of naturally occurring materials to manufacture everyday tools. read more >
