Board of Visitors Visits Legislators

Members of the Board of Visitors made their annual trip to Columbia for Legislative Day on March 23rd. They met with legislators about issues of importance to Clemson University and higher education and heard presentations from legislators. The Board was introduced in both chambers of the General Assembly and heard presentations by Chairman Dan Cooper '84 (Chairman of the House Ways & Means Committee), Senator Paul Campbell '68 and Mike Shealy '81 (Budget Director of the Senate Finance Committee). Alumnus, CPT Andrew Culbreath, Wins Prestigious MacArthur Award

Chief of Staff of the Army Gen. George W. Casey Jr., presented Capt. Andrew S. Culbreath, Clemson alumnus and Army Reserve military attorney, with the 23rd Annual General Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award May 6, at the Pentagon. Twenty-eight of the Army's most promising captains and warrant officers were lauded at this special awards ceremony honoring officers who demonstrate the ideals of duty, honor and country, and who epitomize the traits MacArthur stood for. read more >

Daughters Deluge Clemson

Sponsored by the Clemson Women's Alumni Council, the 12th Annual Bring Your Daughter to Clemson Weekend attracted more than 200 parents and daughters with connections to the university. Themed "Lady Tiger Legends, Clemson Women First," the event provided visiting daughters a weekend stay in dorm rooms on campus, the traditional Breakfast of Champions with student athletes, a visit to Howard's Rock and a run down the Hill at Memorial Stadium. "This program highlights the rich traditions of Clemson University while emphasizing new career areas that are opening up to female students," said Elizabeth Milhous, director of outreach for alumni relations at the university. view event photos >

Senior Platoon Reunites

The Senior Platoon was established in 1928 after winning a fancy drill platoon competition against the Citadel. The drill platoon continued to perform at football games, parades, and special events from 1930 to 1960 creating over 1500 Alumni, with approximately 600 of those still living. In 1992, under the leadership of Leonard Butler '53, Senior Platoon Alumni began having reunions like the one just held at the Alumni Center. view photos >
