Trustees Take Action

Clemson University trustees heard some good news about the upcoming academic year during their quarterly meeting in Greenville last week. "We are expecting a freshman class of 2,950 this fall, and statistics show they could be the strongest class ever academically," said Provost Dori Helms. "We also will see an increase in transfer students." The board also approved the $797 million budget for fiscal year 2010-2011 that included both good and bad news. read more >

Researcher Vincent S. Gallicchio became president of the International Federation of Biomedical Laboratory Science at the organization's 29th World Congress in Nairobi, Kenya. read more >

Edisto Clemson Club Raises Funds for Scholarships

Edisto Clemson Club's recent golf tournament raised almost $2000 for scholarship funds for three deserving students from their local counties; Orangeburg, Calhoun, and Bamberg. Coach Jeff Scott was in attendance and the winning team from Santee Insurance included: Will Fleming, Ken Fleming, Bill Spiers, and Tripp Crosby. view photos >

Palmer Shares Sweet Success

Alumnus, Mark Palmer has been cooking since he was twelve-years-old. He started baking, however, once he got married in 1997. In the beginning, he made Red Velvet Cakes, Chess Bars and Chocolate Chip Cookies for his wife and children. As more people requested, he began to bake even more. "For me, baking is a stress reliever," Mark said. "It also fills my heart watching others enjoy what I bake." read more >

The Clemson Alumni Association invites you to participate in the inaugural Alumni Challenge Tournament to be held Friday, September 10th at The Walker Course in Clemson. Compete for bragging rights to be the best Alumni golf foursome and the chance to represent your alma mater on the national stage. The winning team of the Clemson Challenge will enjoy 3 days/2 nights at Pinehurst Resort and join 120 other 4-person college alumni teams (one from each Conference University) for a 36-hole best ball competition at Pinehurst Courses Nos. 2 & 4.
