Architecture Students Win National Competition
Architecture students, Will Allport of Mount Pleasant, Nick Barrett of Irmo and Jason Butz of Charleston, earned first-place honors in a national competition to create a space that would connect people to themselves, others and nature. Administered by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture and sponsored by the American Institute of Steel Construction, the program challenged students to explore a variety of design issues related to the use of steel in design and construction. read more >

Clemson to Host Nanotechnology Conference
The next huge advance in technology will be really, really small. Nanotechnology the manipulation of materials and processes at the atomic level is a key part of the next industrial revolution. Clemson University is hosting Nano2010, an international conference of scientists whose research will help us understand how nanotechnology will affect our world. Oscar Winner to Direct Digital Production Arts
Jerry Tessendorf, winner of the Academy Award for Technical Achievement in 2008, has been named director of the Digital Production Arts program at Clemson University, a graduate program for professionals in the film, video and gaming industries. read more >

Grant Supports Efforts to Address Childhood Obesity
Clemsons Food and Nutrition Education Program has teamed with the S.C. Department of Education and the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control to administer a Team Nutrition project called Healthy Habits for a Lifetime. The program received a $101,000 grant to provide nutrition education throughout the state, targeting approximately 12,000 children in child-care centers, 800 child-care operators and staff members, and 1,000 community and family members. read more >

Clemson Awards 700 degrees in Summer Ceremony
The heat of summer didnt keep graduates and their families away from Littlejohn Coliseum on August 7th as 700 students became Clemson University alumni. Of the degrees conferred, 330 were bachelors, 315 masters and 55 were Ph.Ds. read more >

$2 million Gift Pledge Comes With a Challenge
Clemson University has received a $2 million pledge from a private foundation to help fund an endowed chair in human genetics. But it comes with a challenge: University officials and state leaders will have to work together to address the needed state match requirement to receive the gift. read more >
