Princeton Review Rankings Released

Clemson University has once again been named to The Princeton Review's Best 376 Colleges guide. The guide quoted a student who said, "Clemson University offers the total package: challenging academics, beautiful campus, sports, a thriving Greek life, Southern edge, and that extra something that just makes me excited to be here every morning when I wake up. Nowhere else feels more like home." Clemson also ranked high in specific categories.

Williams Named Director of National Scholars Program

Jamie Williams has been promoted to director of the National Scholars Program and associate director of the Calhoun Honors College at Clemson University. Williams helped collaborate with administrators and faculty across campus to shape the National Scholars Program experience into more than a full scholarship program for top students.

Internships Propel Students Towards the Future

By the time Leigh Allison graduates from Clemson University, the biosystems engineering major from Mount Pleasant will be a seasoned workplace veteran. That's because for 10 weeks during the summer, students like Allison worked alongside the Clemson University Restoration Institute project team and partners statewide during the detailed design and initial construction of what will be the world's most advanced wind turbine drivetrain testing facility.

Cultivating New Farmers

S.C. New and Beginning Farmer is a statewide multi-agency partnership supported by the Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program of the National Institute of Food and Agriculture. Clemson University's R. David Lamie, the leader of the program, said the goal is to grow sound business managers, environmental stewards and successful marketers. The New Farmer program provides the knowledge and skills necessary to be successful entrepreneurs.

Changes in Store for Clemson Graduation

Clemson University will have three commencement ceremonies in May 2012 to accommodate more people. The additional ceremony is one of several changes in a 2012 commencement schedule approved by the university's board of trustees. Two ceremonies, rather than one, are scheduled for December 2012 graduates. The August 2012 commencement will remain a single ceremony, but will move from a Saturday to a Friday.

Jacques Named Director of CAF

John Jacques has been appointed interim director of the Clemson Advancement Foundation for Design and Building (CAF). He replaces LeRoy Adams, who has been in the role since 2003 and has accepted another position at the university. Jacques assumed his new duties July 6.

The brightest young people in South Carolina too often are forced to leave their home state in search of job opportunities, a top Clemson University official said at an energy forum. Innovation in South Carolina cannot prosper if the state's best and brightest leave after they graduate from college or attend college out of state, said John Kelly, vice president for economic development and executive director of the Clemson University Restoration Institute.
