Professors Live the Dorm Life

Clemson University housing begins its new Faculty In Residence program this Fall. Three faculty members will live in residence halls on campus this year. They will plan programs and mentor students, giving them more opportunity to interact with faculty outside the classroom. "Students can interact with faculty members and their spouses outside of the classroom; both benefit from these less formal, yet meaningful, interactions," Price said.

Memorial Park to Commemorate Clemson Alumni

Work is underway on Memorial Park, an extension of the Scroll of Honor Memorial site at the corner of Fort Hill Street and Williamson Drive at Clemson University. "For the past 115 years Clemson alumni have honorably served our country - in science, medicine, education, industry, agriculture, government, religion, the military and many other professions," said Ed De Iulio, chairman of the Clemson Corps. "The park will be a tribute to all members of the Clemson family who have served, those who are serving and those who will serve, with the highest level of service and sacrifice represented by those 479 alumni recognized on the Scroll of Honor."

The World's a Stage for Clemson Musicians

When the Summer Olympics begin in London next year, a contingent of Clemson students and faculty will be there to perform. No, not some of Clemson's world-class athletes, but a select group of musicians from the performing arts department. Clemson University's Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble are going to perform at Olympic venues to showcase their talents and American music to people from all over the world.

Clemson Athletics Introduces Tiger Traditions

Clemson Athletics, in conjunction with IPTAY, in an effort to educate our incoming freshmen and all Clemson fans on the rich tradition of Clemson Athletics, have created a Tiger Traditions book. The Tiger Traditions book covers everything from the Solid Orange mission, Tiger Rag and the Alma Mater to specific cheers and championship history of each of our varsity sports.

Clemson University ranks 25th among public institutions in the nation, according to U.S.News & World Report's annual guide to "America's Best Colleges." The university also is cited for its commitment to student success, garnering recognition for learning communities and writing in the disciplines. Alumni Golf Tournament Recap

Alumni teams enjoyed a day of golf and fellowship during the 2nd Annual Alumni Golf Tournament, Friday, September 9th at The Walker Course. The winning team of Paul Gaughf, Derek O'Bradovich, Scott Motsinger and Bob Paulling will advance on to the Acura-sponsored National Alumni Golf Challenge in Pinehurst, NC in October to compete against other college alumni teams. Over $7500 was raised by registrations and sponsorships.

Hilliard Gift Supports Sustainable Environment

R. Glenn Hilliard, a noted business leader, environmentalist, arts patron and education advocate, and his wife, Heather, have provided Clemson University with a $1 million endowment. The gift will create the Glenn '65 and Heather Hilliard Endowed Professorship in Environmental Sustainability.

CAFLS Tailgate: A Tasty Gathering

Nothing's finer that South Carolina-grown agricultural products, and at this year's CAFLS Tailgate there will be a variety of vendors on had to add extra flavor to the event. The College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Science Alumni Board invites all CAFLS alumni, current students, fellow Tigers and friends of CAFLS to the 2011 CAFLS Tailgate on Saturday, October 8 at Fike Recreation Center. The event is scheduled to begin 3 hours before kick-off of the Boston College Football game. This year's Tailgate will take place Homecoming Weekend and will feature a Silent Auction, the introduction of the CAFLS Tailgate "Taste of South Carolina", recognition of the winners of the SC Farm Bureau Collegiate Discussion Meet and the Forestry and Natural Resources Annual Alumni Meeting.

Be sure to mark your calendars for September 30-October 1 and come to the South Carolina Botanical Garden's Fall Plant Sale. This year the sale will offer rare native plants, fall perennials, blueberries and carnivorous plants. On Friday, Sept. 30 from 2:30-6pm, there will be an exclusive "friends" preview sale (new FRIENDS may join at the sale). The public sale will be the next day from 9am-1pm.

Spiro's Institute Offers Business Idea Competition

Clemson University students and South Carolina residents who have ideas for new businesses can be involved in the second year of the competition, which is for new, independent ventures in the seed, startup or early growth stages. The competition is open to all full- and part-time undergraduate and graduate students in South Carolina as well as any residents of South Carolina who want to participate. Applicants may be individuals or teams of up to four members.

13th Annual Student Affairs Gala

The 13th annual Student Affairs Gala will be held on Friday, September 23rd at the Swann Fitness Center located in Fike. A cocktail reception and silent auction will be held at 6:30 p.m. followed by hors d'oeuvres, entertainment and dancing. The funds raised will go to programs and facilities that enhance the student experience outside of the classroom.

The 9th annual Tiger Golf Gathering will be held on Friday, September 23rd during the FSU football weekend. Support Students Through ARTREACH

Start your Auburn game weekend with a bang for a great cause. The Center for the Visual Arts at Clemson University and the Clemson Advancement Foundation for Design and Building proudly present the inaugural ARTREACH event to celebrate the artistic connections between Clemson and Greenville on Friday, September 16 at 7:30pm in downtown Greenville at the Wyche Pavilion. Tickets are only $25 and will include drinks and light hors d'oeuvres. Program will include words from President Barker, a stunning light display and amazing artwork on display by Clemson Students, alumni and faculty.

'65 - '67 Football Reunion

Celebrating the first back-to-back-to-back ACC Football Championship teams, members of the '65, '66, and '67 teams will reunion the weekend of September 24th. Join former coaches and teammates on Friday evening at the Mill Creek Lodge for a BBQ social and then for special events during the game against FSU on Saturday.
