Fellow Tigers across the country will participate in a National Week of Service April 9th-15th. President Barker and The Clemson Alumni Association are encouraging Clemson Clubs and Groups everywhere to take part in service projects in their communities that week. Don’t forget to wear your orange and take photos that will be featured in an upcoming Echo newsletter. Mark your calendars today and find out how you can get involved!

RecycleMania on Campus

RecycleMania on Campus

Clemson’s RecycleMania video has placed in the Top 10 best videos in the nation for promoting recycling on campus! To win first place, however, Clemson must get as many “likes” as possible on the RecycleMania’s YouTube page between March 19th and March 26th. Clemson is honored to be in the running for this prize and hopes to get all of our fellow Tigers behind us to win the competition. The winning team receives $500 for the university’s recycling program and another $500 to those who created the video.

Wells Fargo Sponsors Call Me Mister Program

Wells Fargo Sponsors Call Me Mister Program

Wells Fargo has given $210,000 to Clemson University to support the Call Me MISTER and Emerging Scholars programs. The gift will provide first-year scholarships for 50 young men in the Call Me MISTER program and fund six students throughout their Emerging Scholars experiences. “We are pleased to make this grant to Clemson University to show our support for talented young people and education,” said Rick Redden, regional president for Wells Fargo in South Carolina.

Six To Receive Distinguished Service Award

The Clemson Alumni Association has announced six recipients of the Distinguished Service Award, the university’s highest alumni honor. The awards will be formally presented on March 30. The association annually recognizes alumni who demonstrate a dedication to enhancing the value of the university for future generations; church, professional and public service; and personal accomplishments that serve as a model for present and future Clemson students.

Tigers Lead to a New Walter Reed

When the historical Walter Reed Army Medical Center in D.C. recently combined operations with the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., two Clemson alumni had major roles. Navy Capt. Steve Hamer, a 1987 civil engineering graduate, and Navy Capt. Betsy Booth Myhre, a 1987 nursing graduate, helped create what is now the biggest and best military medical facility in the world.

3rd Annual Alumni Challenge Golf Tournament

The Clemson Alumni Association invites you to participate in the Third Annual Clemson Alumni Challenge Golf Tournament. The tournament is limited to 20 teams. Compete for bragging rights to be the best Clemson Alumni golf foursome and the chance to represent Clemson on the national stage. The winning team of the Clemson Challenge will represent Clemson in the Acura College Alumni Team Championship, November 1-4, 2012. Enjoy three days and two nights at Pinehurst Resort, along with 120 four-person college alumni teams — one from each conference university — for a 36-hole best ball competition at Pinehurst Courses Nos. 2 & 4.

3rd Annual Tigerpalooza

Undergraduate Student Government and the Alzheimer's Association are teaming up this spring to rally the Clemson community and surrounding communities to battle one of our nation's most tragic and devastating diseases. On Saturday, April 14th, Clemson students, alumni, and community will gather at the iconic Esso Club in Clemson, SC for the 3rd Annual Tigerpalooza Tailgate, hosted by Transfer Council and the Alzheimer's Association. Tigerpalooza will take place on the same day as the Clemson Tigers Annual "Orange and White" Spring Football Game. The tailgate will include a silent auction, carnival style games, a prize wheel, and variety of promotional items.

5th Annual JAM Scholarship Golf Tournament

Calling All Golfers Please mark your Calendars and plan to play in the Joseph A. Miller Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament on May 5th. This year's tournament will be played at The Walker Course at Clemson University. There will be plenty of prizes for longest drive and closest to the pin with a cash prize for the 1st place team. So dust off your clubs, hit the driving range, and pull your team together to play in the 5th Annual JAM Scholarship Golf Tourney. Join fellow marketing alumni, faculty and students for a social to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Marketing degree at Clemson. Calling all Tigers to the RBC Heritage

The Clemson Alumni Association would like to welcome you to the RBC Heritage Tournament on Hilton Head Island. Join fellow fans and alumni as we cheer on our Tiger golfers as they participate in the action. CASE Regional Social Gatherings

Starting in April 2012, new alumni group Clemson Alumni Society for Equality will be hosting regional social gatherings. CASE provides networking and social activities for alumni who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or questioning, as well as straight allies. Join us for this opportunity for CASE members to get to know each other and learn about the new CASE Scholarship created for Clemson students. This will also be a time for potential members to learn more about CASE and join the group.
