Trustees Set Tuition, Housing and Rates
The board of trustees Wednesday approved modest increases in tuition for Fall 2012 — 3 percent for in-state students and 4 percent for out-of-state students. “We’ve made a commitment to students and families,” said Clemson President James F. Barker. “We will continue to improve the quality of a Clemson education while maintaining access. That means keeping tuition and fee increases as low as possible. Our commitment is to add value to the educational experience and directly benefit students in accordance with our 2020 Road Map.”

US Ignite Partnership Spurs Internet App Development
Clemson University has teamed with the US Ignite Partnership to capitalize on what is possible through virtualized ultra-fast broadband networks, and “ignite” the development of next-generation Internet applications and services. The primary goal of the US Ignite Partnership, which was announced Wednesday by the White House, is to catalyze 60 advanced, next-generation applications over the next five years in six areas of national priority: education and work force development, advanced manufacturing, health IT, transportation, public safety and clean energy.

A film produced in Clemson University’s digital production arts program was named Best Animated Film at the Greenville International Film Festival. The film, “Wycinanki" and is the story about digital production arts student Irena Rindos’ mother in Poland who finds three animals and rescues them. The word “wycinanki” means paper cutting, which is a traditional Polish art.

Team Demonstrates More Secure Voting System
Voters in a national organization are casting their ballots using Prime III, an electronic, accessible voting system created by Clemson University professor Juan Gilbert. Gilbert, chairman of the Human-Centered Computing division in the School of Computing, was in Washington Wednesday with his team of researchers to again put to use Prime III. The National Council on Independent Living (NCIL) is using the voting system to elect officers in its national election Wednesday.

Clemson alumni can share the Clemson experience with their children, grandchildren or other special young people in their lives, by registering them for a great summer program offered through Clemson's Youth Learning Institute (YLI).
