Survey of Career Plans of Clemson Seniors

In March 2009, the Office for Institutional Assessment and Effectiveness conducted a survey of Clemson University's senior class designed to gather information about student intentions after graduation.  This web-based survey solicited responses from 5,692 students, and resulted in 492 completed sets of responses (8.6% response rate).

Adhering to the Voluntary System of Accountability's "College Portrait of Undergraduate Education," survey respondents identified the following options as the best representations of their intentions after graduation:

  • Employment within your major field of study (43.7%)
  • Graduate study (40.7%)
  • Employment in a field other than your major (9.1%)
  • Other (1.8%)
  • Military service (1.6%)
  • Volunteer service (1.2%)
  • Further undergraduate study (1.0%)
  • Starting or raising a family (0.8%)
