Survey of Career Plans of Clemson Seniors
In March 2009, the Office for Institutional Assessment and Effectiveness conducted a survey of Clemson University's senior class designed to gather information about student intentions after graduation. This web-based survey solicited responses from 5,692 students, and resulted in 492 completed sets of responses (8.6% response rate).
Adhering to the Voluntary System of Accountability's "College Portrait of Undergraduate Education," survey respondents identified the following options as the best representations of their intentions after graduation:
- Employment within your major field of study (43.7%)
- Graduate study (40.7%)
- Employment in a field other than your major (9.1%)
- Other (1.8%)
- Military service (1.6%)
- Volunteer service (1.2%)
- Further undergraduate study (1.0%)
- Starting or raising a family (0.8%)
