Site Sustainability Priorities

Storm WaterStormwater

Stormwater management will disperse stormwater to reduce runoff volume/peak concentration

Stormwater BMPs will integrate landscape aesthetics to create imageable identity for campus

CU-ICAR is located at the base of the watershed and includes airport runways

Catchment area is rapidly urbanizing – stormwater runoff is increasing in the watershed

Riparian Corridors

Site development will conserve riparian corridors to provide connectivity with natural systems and support habitat

The corridor is to be a healthy, safe and stable series of environments that will support the functional needs and research, teaching and service needs of the university

The corridor is to be a series of quality environments that provide for the best plant and animal communities native to our region

Building sites will be landscaped with indigenous plant material to reinforce site character and reduce need for irrigation

Circulation / Parking

Site circulation will stack parking and reduce internal roadways to decrease impervious surfaces

Additional transportation needs can be met through offsite (campus) parking and shuttle access
