Improving Agriculture, Health and the Environment

Clemson University's biotechnology research extends from genomics to bioengineering. It is accelerating the discovery and application of economically significant technologies in agriculture, the environment, and human health.

Genetics Collaborative: Barker and StephensonClemson, Greenwood Genetic Center research initiative Clemson University and Greenwood Genetic Center (Greenwood, S.C.) officials on July 20, 2005, announced an initiative to find causes and cures for birth disorders and susceptibility to premature birth, hypertension, obesity and diabetes. The partners formed the Genetics Collaborative to increase research and doctoral education in human genetics. MORE

Biosystems Research Complex dedication: StillmanA dedication ceremony for the Biosystems Research Complex, Clemson's newest laboratory facility, was held April 22, 2004. At the same time, the S.C. DNA Learning Center was announced. The keynote speaker for the dedication was Bruce Stillman, CEO of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, one of the premier biotechnology research laboratories in the world.
