The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) Support Center offers the following services to faculty, staff, graduate and undergraduate students wishing to apply for grants.

Proposal Development

We welcome current and new researchers to contact our office regarding your research endeavors. We will assist you by reviewing announcements, formatting, ensuring content is compliant with program guidelines, and when our time allows, assist with editing.

Get started by completing the New Proposal Questionnaire (below).

If you need in-depth assistance writing your proposal, please contact the Clemson University Proposal Development Center at

Budget Development

We encourage faculty to contact us as soon as you make the decision to apply for funding so that we may assist you in creating the budget. By doing so, this could reduce the time we all have to spend revising the budget at the last minute. If you wish to put together a draft budget on your own first, please be sure to download the College of Business Budget Workbook (below) and check the Other Resources section for important information such as fringe and F&A rates.

Proposal Submission

After assisting in developing your proposal and budget, we will submit your proposal to the sponsor. If the proposal is to be submitted via Fastlane, our office can upload on your behalf once you have allowed access.

Award Acceptance

As soon as you receive notification that you have been selected to receive an award, contact our office so that we can begin the process of award acceptance. Once award documents have been executed, the OSP Support Center will coordinate with the Grants and Contracts Administration (GCA) to get the award set up in Clemson University's accounting system. Each award is then assigned a unique account number that will allow proper budget management by the department administrative assistant and the Support Center post-award grants coordinator.

Post-Award Project Management

The OSP Support Center is unique in that we provide both pre- and post-award project management services to faculty-led funded research projects. These services include serving as a liaison between the principal investigator, department and GCA; review award set-up; coordinate cost-sharing; approve expenditures; process budget corrections and budget amendments; maintain up-to-date accounting records; and coordinate project closeout.
