Clemson Military Appreciation Week 2017

Clemson University is celebrating Military Appreciation Week by hosting a series of events to recognize Clemson’s rich tradition of military excellence dating back to its founding as a military school and to honor the 10,000-plus Clemson men and women who have served in the armed forces.

Tuesday, Nov. 14

9-11 a.m.
Veterans Appreciation Reception for Staff/Faculty/Student Veterans - Clemson University Staff Senate invites all Clemson Staff, Faculty and Student Veterans to an appreciation reception for light refreshments, such as coffee and donuts. They will give you a small gift as a token of appreciation. In case of inclement weather, the reception will be held in the Student Senate Chambers.

Thursday, Nov. 16

5-6:30 p.m.
Connecting Veterans to Careers Series: Veteran Alumni Panel - Brian Burger and Eric Lambert, two Clemson veteran alumni, will be sharing their post-graduation experiences with student veterans and military-connected students.
Location: 204 Tillman (may change depending on attendance)

6:00 p.m.
Scroll of Honor, Memorial Park - Flags will be placed around the barrow. Come join in this event to honor our Clemson fallen comrades.

Friday, Nov. 17

12:30 p.m. tee time
The 4th Annual Tigers for the Troops Golf Tournament - The Clemson Student Veteran Association is hosting its largest fundraising event of the year. All profits will go into the Clemson Veterans Scholarship Endowment that, starting next year, will pay out a $1000 scholarship to a deserving Clemson student veteran, the first veteran-specific scholarship in the history of Clemson University. The CSVA is looking for participants to sign up as players and sponsors. Help support our current and future Clemson student veterans by giving today!

The Golf Tournament is on November 17th, 2017 at Oconee County Country Club in Seneca, SC. Tee off is at 12:30 pm. Lunch will be provided.

Saturday, Nov. 18 - Military Appreciation Day Football Game vs Citadel, 12:20 pm Kickoff

“Hero of the Game” - Throughout the season, Clemson University Athletics will spotlight Heroes of the Game. Anyone can go to to nominate someone.

8:00 a.m.
Army National Guard & Blackhawk and Lakota Helicopters and other Army equipment displayed as well as vintage military vehicles.
Air Force and Army ROTC recruiting tents

Vintage Military Vehicles and displays

Mini-C17 Transport Airplane courtesy of the 315th Airlift Wing, Charleston AFB, SC on display. The “Mini-17” is a scale replica of the C-17 which conducted the flyover of last year’s MAD game.”

9:30 a.m.
ROTC Alumni/Student Veterans/Clemson Corps Tailgate
- 5th annual ROTC alumni tailgate combines with Clemson Student Veterans and their families to interact with Clemson Corps personnel, ROTC cadre, ROTC Cadets, VIPs, Upstate Warrior Solutions, the West Point Society, and university personnel prior to the game.

Flag Exchange Ceremony at the Scroll of Honor/Memorial Park - Pershing Rifles will change out the flag flown at the Scroll of Honor.

11:50 a.m.
Tiger Band Performance - Come listen to the band play their pre-game concert.
Location: Amphitheater

11:20 a.m.
Parade - Marching band, cheerleaders, both ROTC units, student veterans, local Guard/Reserve units, Clemson Corps and others join in the parade.
Location: From central campus to the stadium

Gold Star Families of SC fallen service members or alumni will be recognized for the sacrifices they have made.

All Veterans will be recognized in the West End Zone during halftime.
Clemson Rangers will perform a Fallen Soldier salute in the East End Zone.
Pershing Rifles will perform a 21 gun Salute.
The half time show will end with the playing of TAPS.
