Clemson Military Appreciation Week 2018

Clemson University is celebrating Military Appreciation Week by hosting a series of events to recognize Clemson's rich tradition of military excellence dating back to its founding as a military school and to honor the 10,000-plus Clemson men and women who have served in the armed forces.

Monday, November 12

9:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M.
Student Veteran Association Tabling Library Bridge - Clemson SVA will be tabling the Library Bridge to build awareness of Veteran Resources on campus and to highlight Military Appreciation Week events around campus.
Location: Cooper Library Bridge

Tuesday, November 13

9:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M.
Veterans Appreciation Brunch - Lockheed Martin is partnering with the Office of Human Resources, Faculty Senate, Staff Senate, and Military and Veteran Engagement to host the 3rd Annual Military Appreciation Brunch to recognize and honor Clemson's current and former military students, staff, and faculty. Food will be provided as well as a free gift to all student, staff and faculty veterans. A brief program will begin at 9:30 am.

Student Veteran Flag Recognition Event - 303 American Flags will be on display at Carillon Gardens representing the 303 verified veterans currently enrolled at Clemson University. Information about Veteran Resources will be available.

Clemson Green Zone Training - GZT is an initiative to support student veterans and educate the campus community. Green Zone Training provides faculty, staff, and students with an understanding of the military experience of student veterans as they transition from military to campus life. Conversations over Coffee w/ Almeda Jacks and Brennan Beck
- Dr. Almeda Jacks, VP of Student Affairs, will be joined by Brennan Beck, Asst. Director for Military & Veteran Engagement, as he reflects on experiences in the U.S. Army and how it influences his work within Student Affairs at Clemson. The event is open to all staff. Coffee and refreshments will be provided.

Clemson Student Veteran Center Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
- Join us in celebrating our new Student Veteran Center at our ribbon cutting ceremony. A brief program will begin at 3 PM with remarks from Clemson University President: Dr. Jim Clements, Asst. Director for Military and Veteran Engagement: Brennan Beck, and President of the CSVA: Ashley Johnson. Light food and beverages will be provided. To RSVP, email Veteran@clemson.edu.

Clemson Veteran Alumni Q&A: Brian Burger ;- Marine Corps Veteran and Clemson Alum Brian Burger will be reflecting on his time at Clemson as a student veteran, his challenges and successes after graduating, and his experiences starting his own business, Fathom 4 Industries. This will be an open Q&A session. All veterans, cadets, and interested parties are welcome.

Military Appreciation Tailgate | A Donor Celebration
- 6th annual military appreciation tailgate combines ROTC units, Clemson Student Veterans, Clemson Corps, military-affiliated alumni and donors and their families to interact with ROTC cadre, ROTC Cadets, VIPs and university leadership prior to the game.

3:30 P.M.
Flag Exchange Ceremony at the Scroll of Honor/Memorial Park - Pershing Rifles will change out the flag flown at the Scroll of Honor.

5:00 P.M.
Tiger Band Performance - Come listen to the band play their pre-game concert.
Location: Amphitheater

5:30 P.M.
Parade -
Marching band, cheerleaders, both ROTC units, student veterans, local Guard/Reserve units, Clemson Corps and others join in the parade.
Location: From central campus to the stadium

In-game: There will be several special guests and high-ranking military officials in Memorial Stadium for Military Appreciation Day. In-game military recognitions will include the introduction of these officials, the hero-of-the-game, and Wounded Warriors.

Halftime: All veterans and active-duty military members are invited to come down to the field and be recognized during halftime. To participate, go to portal X in the WestZone or if in the upper decks (exit the stadium and get a pass-out ticket so you can return to your seat) then walk to the west side of the stadium and enter through the visitor's tunnel (gate 10) with five minutes remaining in the second quarter.

Tiger Band will play the Armed Forces Medley, and all veterans and active-duty military members are asked to stand to be recognized when their branch's song is played. Veterans will be recognized in the west end zone by branch during this time as well.
