Fluid Campus

In 1972, Clemson was one of the first architecture programs in the country to establish a satellite program in Europe. Since then, we have built a fluid campus, semester-long opportunities where students travel throughout the world to gain a greater understanding of architecture culture. With centers in Clemson, South Carolina; Genoa, Italy; Barcelona, Spain; and Charleston, SC, our fluid campus centers each enrich their respective pedagogical specialties while maintaining a global perspective of territory and society, and providing a better understanding of cultures and practices outside the U.S. It is a goal of the School to increase its current 70% participation to include every student. As constituents of a fluid campus, each of these centers is uniquely positioned to capitalize on territorial attributes, focusing on lessons of particular importance to the location, the region and the local culture and finding ways to make this part of the collective pedagogy of the School.
