Tom Fox founded FOX Commercial Properties, a commercial real estate development company based in Greenville, South Carolina in 2007. FOX prides itself on developing exceptional places for exceptional tenants using sustainable and environmentally sensitive practices and honest, old-fashioned principles.

In the Summer of 2010, FOX completed Rivertowne Place, a 60,800 square foot Harris Teeter anchored project in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. Rivertowne Place was South Carolina’s first LEED registered shopping center and, upon completion was certified LEED Silver by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). In the Fall of 2013, FOX completed Traemoor Village, an 83,750 square foot Harris Teeter anchored shopping center in Fayetteville, North Carolina and in the Spring of 2016, FOX completed the Children’s Medical Center, a 7,750 square foot medical office building in Simpsonville, SC.

Tom began his real estate career in 1987 as a sales person for a home-builder. From 1987 to 1989 he sold more than $25,000,000 worth of townhomes and condominiums and was named to the New Jersey Association of Realtors Million Dollar Sales Club in each of those years. He started his commercial real estate career in 1991 with The Furman Company, a commercial real estate brokerage firm in Greenville, South Carolina. At The Furman Company, Tom specialized in retail sales and leasing and also became the Downtown Greenville go-to broker, assisting in the sale and leasing of many buildings just as downtown’s renaissance was beginning (if only he had purchased a few of those opportunities for himself…).

In 1995 Tom joined AVTEX Commercial Properties as a Partner responsible for new commercial development projects. While at AVTEX, Tom and his partner developed a handful of BI-LO anchored shopping centers in both NC and SC, a Harris Teeter anchored center in Indian Trail, NC, numerous medical office buildings, multiple investment projects and The Market at Oakland, one of Mount Pleasant’s largest multi-use projects.

Since his start in commercial real estate, Tom has leased almost 1,000,000 square feet of retail real estate, sold over $100,000,000 worth of commercial property and has been involved in the development of roughly $150,000,000 of commercial projects.

Tom earned a Master of Science in Real Estate Development and Investment from New York University in 1991 and a Bachelor of Science in finance from Jacksonville University in 1985. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute and International Council of Shopping Centers, a CCIM candidate and holds Broker’s licenses in South Carolina and North Carolina. Tom has served on the Upstate Executive Committee of the Urban Land Institute and on the Board of Directors of the Blue Ridge Council of the Boy Scouts of America, the Western Carolinas Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Green Valley Country Club and has also served as a Loaned Executive with United Way.
