The mission of AAS is to sensitize students to the history and the historiography of the African American experience as they prepare for careers in the new global economy. Objectives include enhancing critical thinking, self-identity, and promoting cultural diversity throughout the university-wide community.
Equally important are the goals of enhanced interracial goodwill, the cultivation of competent leaders, and the publication of research and writing on the African Diaspora.
